This weekend saw the release of three new films, but none of them were able to garner much attention from audiences. Surrogates, a sci-fi action thriller starring Bruce Willis, pulled in only $14.9 million. The dismal opening performance may be somewhat attributed to the film's advertising focusing more on the surrogate concept than the film's characters and plot. Regardless, however, it received fairly mixed reviews from critics - ending up on the generally negative side. Fame looked to follow the success of other recent dance flicks, but delivered only $10 million in its opening weekend. Pandorum, a sci-fi horror film, made little headway with just $4.4 million this past weekend. Aside from all the opening weekend disasters, things were looking up for Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, which held steady at #1 with a 17% drop to $25 million. The animated film has now grossed $60.5 million after ten days.

Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs is a surprisingly good film. The rest of the films don't appear very impressive, quite disappointing.
