Sam Raimi, director of the Spider-Man trilogy and Drag Me to Hell, will be directing the upcoming Warcraft film adaptation. "At its core, Warcraft is a fantastic, action-packed story," said Raimi. The massively multiplayer online video game currently has nearly 12 million subscribers. That combined with the game's deep characters and story make it prime for a successful film adaptation.

Warner Brothers will co-finance the film along with the video game's publisher Blizzard Entertainment and Legendary Pictures. And producers onboard include The Dark Knight's producer Charles Roven. Warcraft will not begin shooting until Raimi finishes up working on Spider-Man 4, which will most likely not begin production until early 2010. He will, however, oversee Warcraft's pre-production during the production of Spider-Man 4.

When people heard the news of a Warcraft film, people were flipping out saying Hollywood would ruin it. But once they heard Sam Raimi was behind it, they were ecstatic, I know this will be a interesting movie
